Tressler LLP Adds Four Associates in its Chicago Office

NOVEMBER 15, 2011 – (Chicago).  Jonathan M. Feinstein, Sonje R. Hawkins, Kyle C. Loftus and Ann E. O’Connor have joined Tressler LLP as associates in the firm’s Chicago office.

Jonathan M. Feinstein advises governmental entities, businesses, financial institutions and individuals on a wide variety of transactional and litigation matters. He represents units of local government in all matters, including litigating contract disputes, property damage and construction claims. He regularly advises clients on annexation, OMA/FOIA, taxation, budget and finance, property, construction and contracts issues. Jonathan graduated from The John Marshall Law School in May 2011. Previously he was a law clerk with the firm from November 2009 to May 2011. He also clerked with Exelon Corporation’s legal department and with the Geleerd Law Group in Chicago. Among his law school achievements, Jonathan was on the Dean’s List for four semesters; was on the John Marshall Law Review; and was a CALI Award recipient in Professional Responsibility. He received four academic scholarships, including the Herzog, Schwartz, Louis L. Biro and Continuing Student award.

Sonje R. Hawkins represents public companies and private entities, large and small, including closely held businesses and not-for-profit corporations in disputes and litigation. She also represents her client base in transactional matters. Sonje graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Previously she was a law clerk with the firm from May 2010 to May 2011. In the spring of 2010 she was a Judicial Extern for Hon. Arlander Keys of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. In the summer of 2009, she was a Judicial Extern for Hon. Jesse G. Reyes of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Chancery Division. Among her law school achievements, Sonje was named a Loyola University Chicago School of Law Intellectual Property Fellow and Intellectual Property Colloquium Fellow, and received the CALI Award for Excellence in Advocacy – Intellectual Property Section. She also was on the Dean’s List in 2010 and 2011, and won the CLEO-Microsoft Intellectual Property Scholarship in 2011. Her activities included serving as a member of the Giles Sutherland Rich Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Team, and as a Regional Director for the Midwest Black Law Students Association Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition.

Kyle C. Loftus is a member of Tressler LLP’s Trucking & Transportation Practice Group and also is engaged in the defense of toxic tort cases on behalf of firm clients. He provides corporate counsel services to motor carriers, freight managers, and insurers. His practice focuses on contract review and negotiation; pursuit and defense of cargo claims; litigation defense; and regulatory compliance. Kyle regularly observes and analyzes regulations and case law that affect the transportation industry at both the state and federal level, and counsels Tressler clients on hours of service requirements, driver and equipment compliance, hazardous material handling, HIPPA standards, OSHA and EEOC matters. In his work in toxic torts, Kyle defends companies regarding claims for personal injury caused by toxic or hazardous materials. Kyle graduated from DePaul University College of Law in May 2011, where he attended on a Dean’s Merit Scholarship Award. Previously he was a law clerk with the firm from November of 2009 until May of 2011. He also clerked at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office from May 2009 to August of 2009.

Ann E. O’Connor focuses her practice on insurance coverage matters, including coverage analysis, counseling and litigation. She has represented insurers in coverage disputes stemming from personal and advertising injury claims, consumer protection claims and property claims, with a special emphasis on claims involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Ann has engaged in insurance coverage litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Ann graduated cum laude from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in May 2011. Previously she was a law clerk with the firm from May 2010 to August 2010 and clerked for the Hon. E. Michael Hoff of the Monroe County Circuit Court. In addition, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Federal Communications Law Journal, the official law journal of the Federal Communications Bar Association. Among her law school achievements, Ann was a member of the Dean’s List and a Board of Visitors Scholar.
