Alysha Briggs-Miller, an experienced special education attorney, is an associate attorney with Cahill & Associates Law Group. Her practice concentrates on, but is not limited to, areas of school law, special education law, student disability rights law and estate planning for families with special needs issues. She has drafted and reviewed numerous IEP documents, attended IEP meetings, participated in mediations and engaged in due process hearings.  Cahill & Associates Law Group represents clients in ADA, Section 504 and IDEIA matters as well as residency and disciplinary issues.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Cahill & Associates Law Group, Alysha completed an internship with the Guardianship and Advocacy Commssion of Illinois drafting briefs on behalf of involuntarily committed patients. Alysha was drawn to special education law due to her work with the deaf and hard of hearing. Before she began her college studies she became a certified sign language interpreter. While completing her B.A. and J.D degrees, she worked as a sign language interpreter for Northern Illinois University, interpreting university classes for students who were deaf or hard of hearing.

Alysha earned both her B.A. and J.D. degree, cum laude, from Northern Illinois University where she was a member of the Law Review. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois.
