Deniz Perkowski is an associate in Tressler's Transportation Practice Group. She focuses her practice on maritime and transportation insurance litigation. Deniz has extensive experience handling matters involving subrogation, Carriage of the Goods by the Sea Act (COGSA), Carmack Amendments, collision and limitation of shipowner’s liability. Deniz is from Instanbul, Turkey and brings an international perspective to her work.
After graduating law school in Turkey in 2016, Deniz completed an internship working for Cerrahoglu Law Firm. Cerrahoglu Law Firm in Turkey represents large American corporations and is listed in the worldwide The Legal 500. Deniz worked closely with the corporate team completing legal research, writing, preparing and analyzing contracts as well as translating legal documents. Deniz then came to the United States and pursued her LLM degree at Tulane School of Law. During this time, she worked at a well-known law firm in Orange County, California, assisting the managing partner in various litigation matters.
Deniz previously joined Tressler's Los Angeles office in 2020 as a senior law clerk. While clerking, she completed legal research as well as pre-trial and trial motions in maritime, aviation and ground-based transportation cases. She also prepared and analyzed discovery materials.
