McLain, Edna L. Partner
Edna L. McLain is a partner in the Chicago office of Tressler LLP where she focuses her litigation practice on the defense of hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, nurses and other medical personnel in medical negligence cases and the defense of corporate clients in toxic tort and general liability cases. She has coordinated the discovery responses and corporate representative depositions of multiple clients, negotiated settlements, prepared and argued motions, and managed the trial preparation of hundreds of cases. She successfully argued an appeal before the Illinois Second District Appellate Court and tried multiple medical negligence cases to defense verdicts in Illinois.
Ms. McLain obtained her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, the Illinois Bar, the Wisconsin Bar, the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society.
Edna has represented hospitals, physicians, nurses and oral surgeons in Cook County, Kane County, and Winnebago County, Illinois and has tried several medical negligence cases to defense verdicts. Edna has successfully managed thousands of trial-set asbestos cases in several high-profile jurisdictions such as Madison County, Cook County and McLean County, Illinois, the City of St. Louis, Missouri, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin from filing, and when necessary, to verdict. Edna has assisted corporate clients in preparing corporate representative witnesses for deposition, managed large-scale document productions, and coordinated discovery for cases pending in the States of Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin in both state and federal court and negotiated several cases to favorable settlements. Her early years of practice included handling all aspects of workers’ compensation files in the State of Missouri, covering the dockets in the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and in Columbia, Missouri. Edna has been honored as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Most recently, she has been selected as a 2019 Illinois Leading Lawyer.
