Joanna Maxwell focuses her practice on insurance matters, business litigation and corporate risks assessment. She analyzes complex insurance issues to determine coverage, evaluate exposure, prepare coverage positions and develop strategy. She has been called upon to represent interests of insurers in a wide range of claims, including inland transit, marine losses, and directors and officers liability.
Joanna has also been involved in defending and prosecuting a variety of business litigation, including claims of breach of contract, various business torts, negligence and fraud. In addition, she has extensive experience defending claims seeking damages under federal statutory schemes. Joanna’s appellate work has included complete analysis of trial and pre-trial proceedings, and drafting of legal briefs on appeal.
As part of her corporate compliance practice, Joanna provides exposure analysis on economic sanctions issues, and has been called upon to assist with issues related to the Federal Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and UK Bribery Act.
