February 7, 2017 – (Chicago) It is with heavy hearts that Tressler LLP regretfully announces the sudden passing of Attorney Richard D. Heytow yesterday.

Dick joined Tressler in 2008 as Senior Counsel and focused his practice on first party insurance coverage issues with a concentration on the investigation and litigation of matters involving fraud and arson. Prior to his work in private practice, Dick had been a Tactical Officer for the Evanston Police Department and an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Special Prosecutions Division and Narcotics Prosecution Unit in Cook County, Illinois. Dick also served as a Partner in his own private law firm, Heytow & Warnick, P.C. for more than 20 years. Dick was a veteran, having served in Korea as a radio operator in the armed forces, later becoming a licensed civilian HAM radio operator.

“Dick was well liked by all his colleagues at Tressler. He was one of the friendliest people in the world, always quick with a smile and eager to share a story about his experiences as a police officer, his motorcycle adventures, or his favorite topic – his grandchildren,” said Mark Banovetz, a Partner and Member of Tressler’s Executive Committee. “Without a doubt, he will be dearly missed by his colleagues at Tressler and by all who knew him.”

Dick is survived by his wife, Merle and their children, Jeff Heytow and Amy Sack (Mark), and their grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha and Jesse. For details on his services, visit his obituary.
