Stephanie Donovan, a well-known education attorney, has joined the Tressler LLP Chicago and Bolingbrook offices as a partner. She has an extensive background in education law as well as labor and employment law. Stephanie will be a member of the Local Government Practice Group with a focus on Tressler’s school district clients.

Most recently, Stephanie served as the General Counsel for the Illinois State Board of Education. She is highly experienced in the practice areas of assessment and accountability, board services, charter schools, school finance, performance evaluations, educator layoffs and dismissals, student privacy, contracts and intergovernmental agreements, private special education facilities, accommodations for transgender students, waivers and the obligations of local school districts under the recently enacted federal Every Student Succeeds Act. Prior to her tenure at the State Board, she spent approximately 14 years in the public and private sectors representing large municipal corporations and companies in labor negotiations and other aspects of labor and employment law.
Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and Juris Doctor from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
