Orange County, California - May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Although we recognize the accomplishments of the AAPI community year-round, this month is particularly special as Rob Bonta, a Filipino-American, was recently appointed to serve as Attorney General for California.

Notably, Mr. Bonta's parents helped organize Filipino and Mexican-American farmworkers for racial, economic and civil rights in California. My Filipino grandfather and Mexican grandmother worked in those same fields in Central California during the United Farm Workers movement - the same movement that Rob Bonta's parents helped progress. I've included a few rare photos from that period of time:

Mr. Bonta has continued in his parents' footsteps, and it is especially powerful to see him become California's first Filipino-American Attorney General. As an attorney and member of Tressler's Diversity & Inclusion Commitee, I am honored to celebrate his success this AAPI Month.
