About the Speakers:

Ace-Eckstein
Ace Eckstein (he/they) is a trans teacher. Having worked with students at all levels from elementary to college, he now works as a teacher librarian for grades 6-12 at a school in Colorado. He has a BA and MA in Communication Studies from University of Colorado - Boulder, where his research focused on queer and trans joy. He now brings that focus to K-12 education, where he is passionate about celebrating students’ whole selves and creating systems and structures that confront oppressive practices and schools.

Melanie Fitzgibbons
Melanie Fitzgibbons
(she/her) grew up in Oak Lawn, Illinois and now live in Morton Grove, Illinois. She currently works at the Horton Group, which is an insurance broker. Melanie performs contractual risk transfer analysis and advising for clients. She worked at Tressler LLP from 2013 to 2020 as a litigation paralegal.

Matt O'Malley Tressler Pride
Matthew O’Malley (he/him) is an associate attorney at Tressler LLP in Chicago. He is a member of the Litigation Practice Group and Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Matt advises his clients on litigation strategies, skillfully representing them through all phases of litigation. He has a track record of success in both bench and jury trials. He focuses on the client’s resolution goals, whether that is achieved through trial, settlement conference, mediation or arbitration. Matt serves his clients in a variety of complex litigated and non-litigated matters, including actions for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, indemnity and contribution, professional malpractice, personal injury, general corporate, LGBT issues, employment discrimination and civil rights violations.
