Practice Focus

Haley Peters is an associate in Tressler’s Local Government Practice Group. Haley concentrates her practice on serving cities and villages. Her practice emphasizes day-to-day operations and general corporate counsel matters for municipalities, counties, townships, park districts, and other taxing bodies. This includes liquor-related matters, planning and zoning matters, development, and employment matters. Haley has extensive experience in representing local municipalities in prosecuting ordinance violations, municipal code enforcement, and traffic-related matters. She works closely with law enforcement and municipal officials to advance public safety and community compliance objectives. Haley also investigates employee disputes and complaints, including harassment, discrimination, and hostile work environments.

 

Prior to joining Tressler, Haley worked for a law firm where she primarily focused on municipal law, municipal prosecution, probate estate administration, and simple estate planning.

While in law school, Haley earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Lawyering Skills, was president of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and served as PanHellenic Delegate for the Alpha Phi Fraternity. She was a 711 Legal Intern for the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office. Haley completed a business internship in the human resources department at global steel manufacturer, Peddinghaus Corporation. She also served as a law clerk for a well-known law office in Charleston, Illinois.

During her undergraduate studies, Haley dedicated her time to the Kankakee County Society of Women in Law, the Kankakee Bar Association, and Prairie State Legal Services.
