Role Description
We are seeking a Litigation Associate attorney to join the Professional Liability Practice Group in our Chicago office. This fast-paced collaborative group handles local and national litigation involving the representation of professional clients and insurance companies. The ideal candidate would have approximately 3-4 years of litigation experience, with basic insurance coverage experience being a plus.
Essential job duties include:
- Assisting with litigated matters, both in the defense of professionals and insurance companies.
- Assisting with litigated matters in both state and federal courts.
- Preparing pleadings, discovery, and motions.
- Communicating with clients and preparing reports to clients.
- Handling court hearings, depositions, and mediations, as necessary.
- Participating in case strategy and execution in highly valued and contentious litigation.
A successful candidate will also:
- Enjoy working collaboratively in a group setting with partners, associates, and law clerks.
- Have a passion for litigation.
- Have a basic understanding of insurance coverage or be willing to learn.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be skilled in legal research, analysis, and writing.
- Possess the ability to work independently and take ownership of their work.
Qualifications
- Active bar license in Illinois.
- Litigation experience in either state or federal courts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional writing, organizational, and advocacy skills.
