Role Description
We are seeking a Paralegal with at least 1-2 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate should have previous experience assisting with trial preparation, filing and service of pleadings, organizing and compiling documents and other information, researching case-related files and source, and coordinating with attorneys, courts, and related parties. This will be a hybrid position in our Chicago office.
Paralegal responsibilities include:
- Preparing legal documents, including appeals, complaints, discovery requests, motions, briefs, pretrial agreements, subpoenas, and summonses.
- Responding to discovery requests, propounding discovery, and working with eDiscovery platforms.
- Reviewing and summarizing complex claims files, depositions, and documents.
- Assisting lawyers with preparation for arbitration, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Managing case files, documents, exhibits, and evidence.
- Assist with insurance coverage related tasks, such as exposure models and policy review
- Liaising with clients, court personnel, attorneys, and administrative staff.
The successful candidate will also have:
- Superb research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and take pride and ownership of their work product
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet court deadlines
- Ability to collaborate and work well within a team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
- 1+ years of experience as a paralegal
- Experience drafting, cite-checking, and correcting legal briefs
- Working knowledge of case management software and Microsoft Office 365
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
