We are excited to welcome Edwin N. Schwartz as Managing Partner of Tressler’s San Diego, California, office. Ed is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. He concentrates his practice primarily on insurance defense disputes, including landlord-tenant habitability claims, premises liability, commercial tenant claims, employment matters, personal injury, wrongful death, trade secrets theft, and general civil litigation.

As a highly respected litigation attorney, Ed has achieved notable success at trial. He successfully defended a $6 million federal trade secrets crossclaim and has successfully prosecuted and defended residential habitability cases, business contract disputes, and civil battery cases.

Prior to attending law school, Ed worked for global companies including BMW, Lexus, and the Penske Automotive Group, where he earned national recognition in sales and sales management. An entrepreneur at heart, Ed also worked for several start-ups, two of which were later acquired by Symantec and Google. This background affords him the knowledge and insight to help commercial clients with litigation involving breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duty, commercial and residential landlord/tenant disputes, and other civil litigation matters.

During law school, Ed earned the American Jurisprudence awards in Business Planning, Workers’ Compensation, Negotiation, and Advanced Mediation, and an Area of Concentration award, with honors, in Labor and Employment law. He was also recognized with the Andrea L. Johnson Business Law Award and the Advanced Mediation Award. Additionally, Ed served as an extern for the Honorable Peter C. Lewis, a Federal Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of California, and has graduated from the prestigious Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College. He was also selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2018 to 2023.

Ed previously worked in our Irvine, California, office as an associate from 2019 until 2020. “I am very excited to be back at Tressler to help grow the San Diego office!” said Edwin Schwartz.

Ed earned his B.S. from the University of Southern California and his J.D. from California Western School of Law.
