Where are you from?
Rancho Mirage, CA.
What was your first job?
A stock clerk at my dad’s liquor store. (For a while, his law office was in the back.)
Do you have any hidden talents and/or unique hobbies?
I play hard-rock guitar.
What is on your bucket list?
I want to eat at Alinea in Chicago.
Why did you decide to become an attorney?
Coming from a long line of attorneys (dad, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, etc.) I resisted it quite forcefully. So, I ended up in the luxury-car business (BMW/Lexus) where I sold enough cars to enough lawyers to where I thought: If they can do it, so can I.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
Coffee. Lots of coffee. And writing. Lots of writing.
Why did you choose your areas of practice?
Employment law is always entertaining, and you can’t make these things up. People do insane things at work and don’t understand why they’re getting sued.
What do you like most about Tressler?
I have the freedom to do my job and have the support when I need it.
What are you most proud of, professionally and/or personally?
The phrase “most proud…” implies one thing and I’ve had such a great life that I can’t pick just one.
How did you first learn about Tressler?
I sued one of their clients! Prior to working for Tressler, I ran my own firm and we handled some landlord-tenant cases. I had a bedbugs case and Tressler represented the property owner.
Before working at Tressler, what was the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
I sold yellow-page advertising business-to-business. (Millennials: there was a time when you had to open a giant yellow book and look through hundreds of pages to find the businesses you wanted to call.)
What is your hidden talent?
I have auditioned for voice-over work with Coors Light and Gatorade. (I lost out to Sam Elliot on Coors and I lost out to JJ Watt, the football player, on Gatorade.)
Do you have a favorite quote?
“All it takes is all you’ve got!” Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson.
What book did you just read?
The Trillion Dollar Coach by Eric Schmidt.
What celebrity do people think you look like?
Right after a haircut—Simon Cowell. Sometimes Jason Bateman, but never Clooney. ☹
What is your favorite meal?
Bone-in ribeye.
What is your greatest fear?
Living an insignificant life.
What music is on your iPhone/Android phone?
Almost every genre except Country.
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Listen to your parents—they know way more than you think.
