Tressler New Jersey Lawyers Win

Tressler attorneys, Timothy M. Jabbour and Lauren DiSarno of our New Jersey office, recently achieved a great result for our clients in a legal malpractice lawsuit involving a missing airplane. On May 2, 2022, a New Jersey state appeals court refused to revive a legal malpractice action against law firm Curcio Mirzaian Sirot LLC and a firm partner over their attempts to organize the deregistration of a $4.6 million jet on behalf of their client.

The two-judge panel found that the firm and the alleged owners of the airplane did not have an attorney-client relationship; therefore, the purported owners had no basis for a legal malpractice claim. Tressler attorneys Timothy M. Jabbour and Lauren DiSarno represented Curcio Mirzaian and the firm's founder, Aristotle G. Mirzaian, in both the underlying litigation and the appeal in New Jersey.

"Our clients are glad to have been fully vindicated in this matter. We are pleased with the Appellate Division's decision to uphold the trial court's dismissal of plaintiffs' claims,” said Timothy M. Jabbour. “Our attorneys are known for their handling of high-stakes professional liability matters and fiercely advocating for all of our insurance industry clients.”

In the recent opinion, the two-judge panel wrote, "These non-clients, while no doubt aggrieved regarding their missing airplane, are owed nothing from these defendants, and the trial court correctly disposed of this claim by entering judgment on behalf of the defendants.”

Law360 covered the matter in a recent article, “NJ Law Firm Beats Malpractice Suit Over Missing Plane.” Click here to view the full Law360 coverage by Nick Muscavage. The case is Jet Leasing Support Services USA, Inc. et al. v. Curcio Mirzaian Sirot LLC et al., case number A-2732-20, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.

“This is a great win for our clients,” said Lauren DiSarno. “Tressler’s New Jersey office and our national Litigation and Insurance Practice Groups are proud to celebrate this success.”
