Takiguchi recently gave an insightful presentation to clients in the insurance industry entitled “Illinois Tort Immunity – 2025 Update.” This session delved into relevant provisions of Illinois’s Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act and related court decisions. Approximately 60 insurance and claims professionals attended and gained valuable insights into the evolving landscape of tort immunity and its implications for their work.

About the Presenters

Rick Capra is Chair of Tressler’s Litigation Practice Group. Rick focuses his practice on the defense of insureds/insurers in the areas of transportation, products liability, toxic tort, and governmental tort immunity. Due to his in-house legal background and corporate insurance experience, Rick brings a deep knowledge of insurance programs and coverages. He provides insurance coverage counseling, and litigation services for a wide range of clients.

Taylor Brewer is an associate in Tressler’s Litigation and Appellate Practice Groups. Taylor’s practice focuses on providing comprehensive services to the insurance industry including coverage analysis, pre-suit claims assessment and handling, insurance defense litigation, and appeals. His experience also extends to healthcare statutory and regulatory compliance, as well as advising and handling claims for state and local governmental entities.

Katherine is an associate attorney in Tressler’s Litigation Practice Group. She focuses her practice on insurance defense litigation, representing clients in a variety of matters. She advocates for her clients through the stages of litigation, with specific attention to helping them achieve their specific goals.
